I find all of this incredibly interesting. He does an excellent job of articulating the power of folksonomy and the blogosphere for people who many not be intimately familiar with the workings of the internet.
I was greatly inspired by this lecture. One of the obvious implications which has huge ramifications is that if the structure of knowledge has changed then the institutions which formerly were the conveyors of knowledge must also change. And since the analog will always be hard-pressed to trump the digital in breadth and depth as well as speed of retrieval of information, perhaps this should signify the evolution of such institutions towards other goals. For instance, fostering better social relationships and communities...
